Pulse Perspectives

This annual event showcases the best of WA's young artistic talent, taking the temperature of the generation that will go on to change and improve our world.

These works showcase the personal, societal, and creative concerns of today's youth. In turn, it is a refreshing, enriching, and illuminating exploration of the world as seen by some of our most promising young creative minds.

Thirty pieces by students from 21 different schools in Western Australia's Year 12 Visual Arts programme are on display here. The selected works cover a wide range of themes and mediums, from traditional two-dimensional art to three-dimensional forms such as sculpture, digital moving images, and textiles. This year's Pulse Perspectives exhibition focuses on humankind's effect on the planet, individuality, and the family.

Current AGWA Associate Curator, Amy Perejuan-Capone, and former AGWA Associate Curator, Rachel Ciesla, judged this year's exhibition.

Gnalla Pop-up Plaza

From March 1 through June 30, stop by Gnalla Pop-up Plaza in the Nollamara Shopping Centre to enjoy a community celebration. Nollamara Shopping Centre has a Pop-Up Plaza named after the Indigenous word for "our," "Gnalla," located beneath the towering canopies of Ficus trees.

Throughout the month of April, the city will host six events that will feature activities for families and young people, such as roving performers and workshops.

On event days, city officers will be present at the  Nollamara Shopping Centre to collaborate with members of the public on the layout of a new plaza that will serve the centre.

One of the Nollamara Shopping Centre's entrances from Nollamara Avenue will be closed in order to make way for the Pop-Up Plaza. Nollamara Avenue near the Carcoola St roundabout is no longer a direct route to the Shopping Centre, but Hillsborough Drive and Sylvia Street remain viable alternatives.
