    perth omeo shipwreck diving

    At Omeo Shipwreck

The Omeo is an iron steamship first constructed in Newcastle, England in 1858 and subsequently transformed to the a sailing vessel; it is considered to be of historical significance and is protected by the federal government. Both the Bass Strait Communication cable as well as the Overland Telegraph, which connected Australia and Britain via Singapore, utilised this method.

This ship also carried passengers between colonies as part of passenger networks and engaged in international trade. A Swan Spit pile light at Port Phillip was destroyed in 1881 after the ship crashed with it during its many years of trading between Adelaide and Melbourne and New Zealand. As of 1905, the Omeo has been ruined after running aground.

    The Key Bascane

Located 120 minutes off the coast of Lancelin, the Key Bascane wreck is on average 25 metres deep and can go as deep as 44 metres. Upon being hauled to Perth for repairs in 1982, the ship went down. The island of Key Biscayne is located far from the mainland. Nonetheless, fantastic weather and nearly no waves are required for the occasional trip out there that is organised by diving businesses. The calm comes in at 44 metres, but the disaster begins at only 25.

    N. Mole Wreck

About 160 metres from Fremantle's North Mole, in only 9 m of water, is where you'll find the wreck. It's in pieces, but it's all in wonderful shape. The SS Orizaba, an abandoned steamer, rests in Point Peron in water as deep as 8 metres. The boilers are interesting to explore and remain mostly intact despite some deterioration. Some of the crevices in the hull are quite pleasant, and they provide excellent opportunities to study marine life in their various forms. There is a 20-minute boat ride to get there.

To locate the sinking, a global positioning system (GPS) is essential. You can see the wreck from the surface if you're directly above it on a calm day. In this case, we don't have any markers. Coordinates: 32°16'9.780" South, 115°3'7.5950" East

Be wary of heavy undercurrents, as you may find yourself unexpectedly bumped into to the wreck if you're not ready to face the subsequent surge.

    Wrecks In Rockingham

These wrecks are situated in open water, five minutes off of the Rockingham shoreline, with a deepest point of seventeen metres and an internal diameter of thirteen. Two aeroplanes, four sailboats, two tyre set, a pole, and a washer and dryer are all part of the set.

To get to the Wreck, pull into the parking lot that is just across from Flinders Lane. Once inside, swim toward one of the wrecks' identifying buoys; all but two are connected by rope. Anyone interested in diving in Fremantle should stop by Perth Diving Academy or Bell Dive, two shops down the street, to pick up a map.
